Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj: a week at a different pace

Dharamshala is the hub people book for a week and leave after three. Slow pace, solid internet, mountains at the end of the street — a rare combination.
When to come
March to June and October to November are the most comfortable windows. July–September is monsoon: green, cheap and very wet — great for a long stay, less so for daily riding.
Working remotely from the hub
Stable internet, quiet work corners and coffee on site are the difference between a holiday and a working month in north India. We keep a mobile backup for power cuts.
- Morning: work from the hub.
- Afternoon: a short trek to Triund or Cheluta.
- Evening: community, music and a shared meal.
Treks and riding loops
Triund is the one-day classic. For more, Indrahar Pass with a guide. On the bike: the Bir and Tang Narwana loop, or a longer day to Chamba.
Frequently asked
- McLeod Ganj or lower Dharamshala?
- McLeod Ganj is touristy and lively, lower Dharamshala quieter and more local. For long stays most guests prefer the belt between the two.
- Can I come without riding experience?
- Absolutely. Dharamshala works perfectly without a bike: treks, yoga, community and workshops — the bike stays an option for a few days.
