Jaipur to Pushkar: distance, travel time and stops

Jaipur to Pushkar is about 145 km — two and a half to three hours. It is one of the easiest roads in India, which makes it the perfect opening ride for anyone on their first trip here.

Distance and time

NH-48 is fast and wide as far as Ajmer, then a short 30-minute hill road climbs over to Pushkar.

  • Jaipur to Ajmer: 132 km, about 2.5 hours.
  • Ajmer to Pushkar: 15 km, about 30 minutes over Nag Pahar.
  • Train: roughly two hours to Ajmer, then a rickshaw or a pickup.

Worthwhile stops

The highway itself is unremarkable, but two detours pay off.

  • Kishangarh — marble markets and the local miniature painting school.
  • Ana Sagar lake in Ajmer — a coffee stop with a view.
  • Ajmer Sharif Dargah — a major pilgrimage site; dress modestly.

Rider notes

The Ajmer—Pushkar climb is narrow, twisty and lined with monkeys — take it slowly. The last reliable fuel is in Ajmer; options in Pushkar are limited.

Leave after 09:00 to miss the Jaipur rush and you will arrive long before dark.
